Getting Started

What is GossipLine?+

GossipLine is a location-based anonymous messaging app. It lets you chat in real-time with people who are physically nearby — within about half a mile. Think of it as a shared conversation space for your local area.

How do I create an account?+

Download GossipLine from the App Store or Google Play, tap "Create Account," enter your email and password, verify your email with the code we send you, then choose your emoji avatar and display name.

Is GossipLine free?+

Yes, GossipLine is completely free to download and use. There are no premium features, subscriptions, or in-app purchases.

What devices does GossipLine support?+

GossipLine is available on iOS and Android devices. It requires location services to be available on your device.

Privacy & Safety

Is GossipLine truly anonymous?+

Your real name and email are never shown to other users. They only see your chosen display name and emoji avatar. However, be mindful that the content of your messages could reveal personal information.

Can other users see my exact location?+

No. Other users can only see that you are within the same local area (approximately 0.5 miles). Your precise coordinates are never shared with other users.

How is my data protected?+

Your password is securely handled by our authentication provider (Clerk). Authentication tokens are stored in your device's secure storage. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your data.

Can I report inappropriate content?+

Yes. If you encounter harmful or inappropriate content, please email us at support@sublimeinnovationtechnologies.com with details about the message, including the approximate time and your location. We take all reports seriously.

Using the App

Why does GossipLine need my location?+

Location is core to how GossipLine works — it connects you with people nearby. Without location access, the app cannot determine which local conversation to show you. Location permissions can be revoked at any time in your device settings.

How far can my messages reach?+

Your messages are visible to users within approximately 0.5 miles (about 800 meters) of your location. As you move, you'll join different local conversations.

Can I send private messages?+

No. GossipLine only has one shared public conversation per area. There are no private or direct messages. Everything you type is visible to all nearby users.

Can I change my display name or avatar?+

No. Your display name and emoji avatar are permanent and set during account creation. This is why we encourage you to choose carefully during onboarding.

Account Management

How do I delete my account?+

Open the app, tap the menu button (⋮) in the top right corner of the chat screen, select "Profile," then tap "Delete Account." This permanently deletes your profile and all messages you've sent. This action cannot be undone.

How do I log out?+

You can log out from the Profile screen (tap menu → Profile → Logout) or from the chat menu directly.

I forgot my password. What do I do?+

Currently, password reset is handled through the sign-in flow. If you're having trouble accessing your account, please contact us at support@sublimeinnovationtechnologies.com.

Can I use GossipLine on multiple devices?+

You can sign in to your account on any device, but you can only be active on one device at a time. Your messages and profile travel with your account.

Technical

Why aren't I seeing any messages?+

This usually means there are no other GossipLine users active within 0.5 miles of you. Try using the app in a more populated area, or be the first to start a conversation!

The app says my location is needed but I already granted permission.+

Try closing and reopening the app. If the issue persists, go to your device's Settings, find GossipLine, and ensure location permissions are set to "While Using the App." On some Android devices, battery optimization can also block location access.
